A 1,244 sq. ft. renovation to an existing 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath condominium. The existing residence was originally constructed with an inefficient kitchen with a wall separating the living room from the kitchen. The challenge was to renovate the spaces to create a more efficient use of space while taking advantage of the natural daylighting from the 9’-0” tall windows. The solution was to provide an open layout between the kitchen and living room. An L-shaped kitchen was constructed, creating definition between spaces while also providing function. The cabinets were extended to the 11’-0” ceiling, creating both horizontal and vertical storage. Bar seating is provided over storage in lieu of the table seating space in the orginal design. The half bathroom was originally constructed with a side by side washer and dryer with inefficient storage above. The bathroom was converted into a full bath, utilizing a stackable washer/dryer with storage above and a shower adjacent. A primary palate of white, blues and sand complement the clad blue window frames while also celebrate the surrounding landscape.
